Many see The Battle Cats as cute and quirky, assuming it lacks depth and strategy. Our challenge was to shift this perception and prove the game's strategic complexity to attract new players and bring back lapsed users.

During the Sengoku period, legendary battles were immortalised on byobu screens, passing strategic lessons to future generations. We saw an opportunity to do the same for The Battle Cats, merging art, battle, and strategy.

We created a full-size, six-panel byobu that immortalised the strategic depth of The Battle Cats, reimagining the game’s characters as warriors in an epic Sengoku battle.

Then we hid it in a museum for The Battle Cats fans to discover, marvel at in all its glory, and pick up some in-game rewards.
